What is EPIC The Musical?
EPIC The Musical is a loose adaptation of Homers the Odyssey. EPIC is a musical about Odysseus and his EPIC journey to get back home to his kingdom, Ithaca, to see his wife Penelope and his son Telemachus. He loves his wife and son so much that he will do ANYTHING to get back home, he fights Gods and monsters for them! The main story thread of the musical is Odysseus' contemplation of what makes a man a monster, to be more ruthless or open arms.

“The theme of “Ruthlessness” is the main theme of EPIC. We can see it throughout every single twist and turn in the story. In EPIC, Odysseus has to make so many decisions, and every single one of those decisions places him on some kind of spectrum of Ruthlessness."
"On one far end of the spectrum of ruthlessness, on the opposing end, would be his best friend Polites who believes we should always “Greet the world with Open Arms” no matter what. On the far other end is Poseidon who believes, to his core, that Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves.” In Poseidon’s mindset, he believes that if your ruthless towards any problem that you confront, you will be a more efficient and able to eliminate it. And thus, it will not come back to haunt you later."
"And the reason why this theme of ruthlessness is so important is because it haunts Odysseus in every single song. The show literal begins with him having to decide whether he should spare the life of an enemy son, when there’s a chance that that son might grow up to seek revenge on his family. And so, while Odysseus spends a lot of his time questioning whether being ruthless would turn him from a man into a monster. Poseidon believes that Odysseus would just save himself all the trouble if he’d just accepted ruthlessness as a necessity of life.”
